A Convenção-Quadro para o Controle do Tabaco (CQCT), em vigor a partir de 2005, foi intensamente discutida e aprovada entre 1999 e 2003. Diferente das demais Resoluções aqui apresentadas, com viés recomendatório, essa tem um caráter vinculante, ou seja, de aplicação obrigatória nos países signatários.
Dentre as 10 Resoluções publicadas no período 2005-2016, constam 1 da OMS, 7 referentes a reuniões da Conferência das Partes da Convenção-Quadro da OMS para o Controle do Tabaco e 2 do ECOSOC:
Todos esses documentos
- reforçam a preocupação internacional com impactos negativos à saúde pública, quanto às consequências sociais, econômicas e ambientais;
- reconhecem a vigência de conflitos de interesse entre a indústria do tabaco e a saúde pública e recomendam que ações sejam tomadas de forma integrada entre as agências da ONU – Força Tarefa do Sistema ONU.
