O Nethis

Presentation

The purpose of the Center for Bioethics and Diplomacy Studies in Health (Nethis) is to promote reflection on the confluence of three scientific fields and of professional performance: public health, international relations and bioethics. The Center develops studies, research and publications; educational activities; and organizes the Bioethics and Diplomacy in Health Virtual Health Library  (VHL Nethis);

Its interdisciplinary design reflects the increasing importance of health in the scenario of international relations guided by bioethical values, especially the procedure recognized by the United Nations as South-South Cooperation.

Nethis was inaugurated in July 28, 2010, at Fiocruz Brasilia, in agreement with the Center for International Relations in Health (Cris/Fiocruz). With the support of the International Cooperation Programme in Health (TC 41), from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO)  in Brazil, and the cooperation of the University of Brasilia, through the Postgraduate Programme / Unesco Chair of Bioethics (Bioethics/UnB) . In addition to the mentioned institutions, Nethis develops activities with academic, governmental and civil organizations.
