Doctor. Specialist in Psychiatry. Master´s degree in Public Health at the School of Public Health of the Upper Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba. PhD in Medicine at the University of Havana, Cuba. Post-graduate degree in Epidemiology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, United States of America, and in Health Management for the Andalusian School of Public Health, in Granada, Spain. He joined the United Nations System in 1988. He worked as an employee of Paho/WHO in Cuba, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico and Chile, as a consultant in charge of the Cooperation in Health Systems and Services. Retired from WHO in November 2012. He has articles published at Paho and at the Cuban Public Health Magazine. As a consultant of Paho he has integrated editorial teams of publications in Cuba, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico and Chile. Reviewer of the Pan American Public Health Journal. He had teaching activities in post-graduate programs of Ensp/Fiocruz, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; of FLACSO, in Santiago, Chile; and at the Government School of Public Health of Montevideo, Uruguay. He also collaborated in programs of several universities and institutions of Mexico, Chile and Brazil: USP, UFRJ, UERJ.
